Newton Illinois Eagle Trails
The info below has not been keep updated, the city has vastly
increased its spending on eagle trails since this was written.
The city of Newton has been awarded a total of $1,880,774 in two
different IDOT grants, the first one being for $908,550.00 and the
second one on January 30 2013 being $980,320.00.
These grants require 20% in matching funds from the city of Newton in
the amount of $377,774.00
These grants are funded by the federal government through IDOT.
I do not even know where to start with this. We have got to have some
of the most ignorant people on the planet running this country to come
up with stuff like this.
First off, the federal government does not have this money and will have
to borrow it or print it.
Second the state of Illinois financial condition is appalling, worst of any
state in the nation, even California. THEY CAN NOT PAY THEIR
BILLS!! THEY ARE BILLIONS IN DEBT, THEY ARE BANKRUPT. Yet
they can keep giving away money for pork like this.
Third, the city of Newton has to come up with $377,774.00 and take
care of the long term maintenance of the trail system that will include
miles of paved trail through a flood plain and a bridge across the river.
Not one of the three governments involved in this could care less about
the mess of debt that they are leaving next generation.
IS THERE ANY SANITY LEFT IN GOVERNMENT?THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT IS BROKE, THE STATE OF ILLINOIS IS BROKE
AND THE CITY OF NEWTON IS WORKING ON GOING BROKE AS
HARD AS THEY CAN.
