At the 10/5/2015 Newton Illinois City Council meeting the council voted
unanimously to require Newton residents to mow adjacent city owned property
via city code
33-2-18. Most people have always done this but the city council
being forever on the lookout for new rules to enact decided to make it law.

The city has always used a big blue tractor to mow a few times per year the
city owned areas along the road that residents did not mow.

What will be interesting to see in the summer of 2016 is what the city mows. My
prediction is that this will be enforced just like the rest of Newtons multitude of
rules and it will all depend on who it is.
But can they do that?
