Date Built: 1890
A ferry Operated at this site from at least 1837 until 1858 when a open wooden bridge was built,this bridge
collapsed in 1861. The second bridge was a covered bridge that was used until replaced with the current
bridge in 1890. This was the only bridge across the Embarras river at Newton until the Rt33 bridge was
constructed in 1924.
